If you're making 1/6th scale militaria but don't collect the 1:1 scale version (or know someone who does), you probably to have to rely on books and video-- unless you've got a military museum nearby. Seeing these things in person is indispensible for verifying details that you can't see in photos. These pictures are from the Texas Military Forces Museum, located at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. (Not too many militaria collectors have armored vehicles hanging out in their closets.) Text exerpts are from the exhibits.

"M18A1 Anti-Personnel Mine "Claymore" is a directional, fixed fragmentation mine which is used for defensive and ambush purposes. The mine uses C-4 plastic explosives behind 700 steel spheres. Once fired, the spherical steel fragments are projected in a 60 degree horizontal arch covering a casualty area of 50 meters to a height of one meter."
